Nowadays, Swiss watches are well known to the whole world. People regard it as a symbol of high-quality and accuracy. Their prices are usually higher than other watches’. However, Swiss is not the birthplace of watches.
History
The history of Swiss watches began at the end of sixteenth century. Due to the French Wars of Religion, a lot of Huguenot worshipers and citizens escaped from French. In the meantime, they brought the watch-making craft with them when they evacuated to Swiss. Combining with local industry of jewelry-making, Swiss watch-making industry has appeared on the stage.
Culture
In the very beginning, all watches were handmade. Each watch was treated as a unique work of art at that time. This made watchmakers take their work really seriously and gradually formed a culture which was pursuit of excellence. After more than 150 years, the culture has permeated every cell of Swiss watch-makers. They have persisted in the good tradition to strive for making every component excellent and making every watch perfect.
Technology
Besides the ineradicable tradition, Swiss watches are in a dominate position in terms of watch-making technology. Two R&D centers support the whole Swiss watch-making industry. Laboratory Swiss of Research Horologe and Centre Electronic Horologe were established in 1921 and 1962 respectively. In 1967 Swiss produced the first quartz watch in the world. The first liquid crystal display watch is also produced by Swiss.

Breguet
Breguet is one of the oldest watch-maker which was found by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1775. It is the pioneer of numerous watch-making technologies, like tourbillion. Breguet is very popular in royal. One of the most famous owners is the French Emperor --- Napoleon Bonaparte. Besides, the greatest physicist Albert Einstein was a loyal owner of Breguet as well.
